Ergo on the Dell Latitude XT
Last night I was going through my video collection looking at the Ink Shows from GottaBeMobile.com (the best Mobile Computing site there is!) and I came across a video from CES 2008 that I didn’t remember seeing. The Ink Show was on some software to come from and English Software Company Ergo who were demonstrating a cool application on the Dell Latitude XT (to make use of the touch screen).
This software allows you to search for a keyword, such as Sydney Harbour, across multiple search engines include Live.com, Google, Flickr etc and then displays the search results in a cool mind map like screen that allows you to flip through the search results.
Here is my search on Flickr for Sydney Harbour
Once you click on one of these initial results, it will populate the final results for you
You’ll notice that these results look very similar to Apple’s coverflow, Ergo call this thumbflow.
Onece you’ve gotten the search result you want, you can drag the thumbnail over to:
- Preview - opens a preview where you can edit the picture, zoom
- Open - opens the web page containing the picture
- Annotate to annotate on the picture
Here is me annotating on the picture of Sydney Harbour
After only playing with Ergo for a few hours, I’m really happy with the user experience and some of the cool features it has especially the different visualizers you can use for your initial search.
