Using Windows Server 2008 as a SUPER workstation OS

WS2008  A few days ago Vijayshinva Karnure, from Microsoft India, wrote an interesting post on how he uses Windows Server 2008 as his workstations OS. These are the steps he took in setting up his workstation.

1. Enable Hardware Virtualization
2. Install the latest Graphics and Audio drivers
3. Desktop Experience Feature
4. Themes
5. Search
6. Disable Shutdown Event Tracker
7. Audio
8. SuperFetch
9. Get a codec pack.
10. Enable Hyper-V

I do agree with Vijayshinva in some of his points. Windows Server 2008 is a very fast, solid and reliable OS (and has been since beta 1!) The major advantage to using WS2008 as your workstation OS would be Microsoft's new Virtualization technology Hyper-V. The downside would be loosing Windows Media Center, as I use this for watching movies and recording TV. But if you're a developer, this would be perfect as your next workstation.
